Michael is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Social Investment Managers and Advisors LLC (SIMA), an SEC-registered investment advisor. SIMA has provided over $400M in financing to 170 solar, minigrid, and financial inclusion companies serving low-income customers in 28 emerging market and least developed countries. With oversight roles on SIMA’s Energy Access Relief Fund, B.V., Off-Grid Solar and Financial Access Senior Debt Fund I B.V., and Emerging Distributor Finance Fund B.V., Michael manages environmental, social and gender frameworks for these funds, and technical assistance programs for portfolio companies.

Previously at Moody’s Corporation, he co-developed some of the first environmental and social performance ratings for financial inclusion institutions. Previously at Deutsche Bank, he co-developed some of the first impact investment funds in microfinance. Michael serves on the boards of the Gregorian University Foundation and the Opus Prize Foundation; and is emeritus board member of the FADICA charitable network, Fonkoze USA, and Jamicro (Jamaican microfinance company).
