Children in Crossfire Tanzania (CIC) makes it their mission to ensure young children perform effectively in their schools and communities. They strive for a compassionate world where every child can realize their full potential.
CIC has established itself as a leading organization advocating for investment in Early Childhood Development. The organizational strategy is to target 3 “Impact Districts” with an Integrated ECD program. Impact Districts are selected from key indicators for ECD where the need is greatest. Within the Impact Districts we work with local partners to deliver interventions focusing on nutrition, stimulation (at home and via pre-school/day-care centers), care practices (in terms of health and the physical environment) and child protection. CIC also builds the capacity of Local government officials with responsibility for young children and advocates for improved resources for young children, in line with the proposed National ECD Policy. Building on this, CIC also operates at the national level, using the evidence from the Impact Districts and collaborating with other stakeholders to advocate for increased national focus on ECD, to strengthen and implement laws and policies affecting young children and to monitor progress against government commitments. Among CIC’s major partners in Tanzania are UNICEF, Dubai Cares, and the Bernard van Leer Foundation.
